Battle of the Products: Urban Decay Primer Potion v NYX HD Eye Shadow Base

I have been meaning to do this post for months. Seriously, months.

I began using NYX High Definition Eye Shadow Base because I heard it was a dupe for Urban Decay Primer Potion. I must say the blogger/guru who recommended it, Beauty Broadcast, was absolutely right!

I put the two primers to the challenge by applying one on each eye to see how they performed against one another. Side note: I used each primer independently for several months before testing them against one another.

Urban Decay Primer Potion, $20

NYX High Definition Eye Shadow Base, $6.99

In consistency, NYX HD is similar to a concealer with a tacky quality to it. I think this helps the eyeshadow adhere. I find that Primer Potion is similar to a light coverage liquid foundation with less tack than NYX.

When put up to battle here is the progression of my eyeshadow throughout the day:

As you can see, from application to end they performed equally. The intensity of eyeshadow color is the same with both primers. The staying power was identical too.

After this battle and using both primers for months, I think NYX HD is the perfect dupe for Primer Potion at a fraction of the cost!

What is your favorite eye primer?
