I was more excited about this box than the past couple of months. It had been a bit since I received a full sized product, so I am happy about this mascara. I'm also looking forward to trying the Kératasse. December will be my last month of Birchbox and I plan to do a full review!

MCMC Fragrance in Phoenix, value ~$6.70
ModelCo Fibre Lashxtend Mascara, value ~$24
One Love Organics Aromatic Body Serum, value ~$18.46
Lifestyle extra: Chuao Chocolatier
Total value ~$55.46

What arrived in your Birchbox this month?

Review: NYX 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Caviar and Bubbles

It's time for me to share with you all my favorite eyeshadow palette! I first heard about NYX Caviar and Bubbles from Glitter Gloss & Glaze when she compared it to the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette (see her post here). I almost immediately picked it up after seeing her review.

As you can see from this photo some colors are well loved:

Why do I love this palette? Caviar and Bubbles has every nude shade needed for a simple eye look. This my go to eye palette for neutral eyes. The palette includes a combination of shimmer and matte shades. The shimmer shades are airy, not frosty. The pigmentation is fantastc, too. In conjunction with a primer these colors will last all day long.

I also appreciate the combination of colors. I can do a light barely there look to a deep smoky eye. All of these shades blend beautifully. The palette has every color you would need from base to highlight, plus a bonus black.

I recently did a tutorial with this palette that you can see here. Beauty Broadcast talked up this palette in her HD News Makeup Tutorial. This is also the palette I used on my wedding day and often the one I chose when I do bridal makeup. At $10.99 it's worth picking up and far exceeded my expectations. I actually prefer this palette to my Urban Decay Naked.

Beauty for the Soul: Thanksgiving

To put things into perspective, I thought it was important to share this today:
I plan to discuss this topic in depth in the future. I felt it was necessary to express some gratitude on this day of Thanksgiving.
I am thankful for:
My husband. With him I have so much joy and contentment in my life. I could not have asked for a better partner. I am truly blessed.
My family and the lessons they have taught me.
My husband's family for always welcoming me with open arms.
My health. I am so fortunate to live a happy, healthy life.
Basic necessities. I have more than my share of what I need and I am grateful for that. I'm lucky to have all the things and more to take care of myself.
To be alive. I love life and I'm thankful I still have the opportunity to live.
A higher power. My higher power gives me hope and lessons for life. I appreciate that.
You. Thank you all for your support.
What are you thankful for?

Tutorial: Hot Rollers

Check out my latest YouTube tutorial. It is all about how to roll hot rollers. This is the method I follow everyday!
Watch in HD for better quality!

Additional tips:
In this video I am using the Conair Infinity Pro set. I love it because it includes four sizes of rollers (I accidentally said three in the video). Plus, the clips do not dent my hair and they hold the rollers in place. Heat up time is 85 seconds. For best results, pick up a set with multiple sizes and good clips.
Since I have fine hair, I only have to use 1 roller on each layer/side of my head. For thicker hair I would use two per layer/side (three for the last layer). Ideally, you will have three layers of rollers. The top layer will be the largest size, the middle layer will be a medium roller. Both layers will be rolled horizontal to your scalp. The last layer will be a smaller size rolled vertically to your scalp.
For shorter hair, use a medium sized roller on the top layer and work your way down in size.
If you would like your hair to have more curl, start with a medium roller at the top layer. Then small on the middle layer. Use the extra small on the final layer. If I want less curl with just volume I do large, medium, medium.
Allow your rollers to set until cool. Usually, this is about 15 minutes. The longer you wait the better your results. If I'm low on time I will blast my rollers with cold air from my hair dryer. In the summer, I sit in front of the AC or (I know this is silly) stick my head in the freezer. Sometimes, since I have a long commute, I allow my rollers to set on my drive. Then, I take them out in the parking lot. However, the best way to do this is to blow dry your hair before applying makeup, roll and allow to set during the makeup process.

Guest Blogger: Tawny of Beauty by T

I'm excited to share another guest post with you this month! Today's blogger is Tawny of Beauty by T. She and I are actually doing a blog swap today. You can check out my post on her blog here.

I discovered Tawny's blog in the past couple of months and have quickly become a big fan. She is quite talented! Her blog has an emphasis on beauty products and she does some fantastic reviews.

Today, Tawny will be blogging about mascara. Take it away!

Hi Everyone!
My name is Tawny and I write a beauty blog over at Beauty by T! It focuses mainly on beauty, DIY's and some fashion and lifestyle posts as well! I'm so excited to be doing this blog swap with Arielle, she's such an amazing blogger and also to share with you my top picks for mascaras! So lets get started...

Buxom Lash
This has been a favourite of mine for a awhile now, it is probably one of the most lengthening mascaras I have ever tried.  I find the formula to be the perfect medium between a natural look and a very dramatic look. It coats your lashes so evenly and you never have to worry about it looking clumpy as well as giving your lashes a lot of definition.

 Cover Girl Lash Blast
This mascara is always my go to. It's cheap, holds a curl really well, and makes your lashes look so long and full. You'll never have to worry about this flaking or smudging. I will keep repurchasing this again and again!

L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black
I have such a love hate relationship with this mascara, the reason why I'm including it in my Top 3 is because when using this with the Cover Girl Lash Blast it seriously makes your lashes look amazing! First I'll apply the lash blast and then immediately go over it with the voluminous. It makes it look like you have false eyelashes on because of how thick and full this combo makes them look. The one thing I dislike about the Voluminous is how much product comes out on the brush, but just make sure you wipe it off first and you'll be good to go!

Some other favourites- Tarte lights camera lashes
- Revlon 3D
- MUFE Smokey Lash

Thanks so much Arielle for blog swapping with me today! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I'd love for you to stop by my blog and say hi! You can follow me here on twitter or Instagram @beautybyt2

Thank you for swapping with me today, Tawny!

Guest Blogger: Miranda of Miranda's Makeup and More

Miranda has been a long time blogging friend. She has always been very supportive of me and my blogging adventures. I appreciate her a lot!

Today, Miranda is guest blogging about her favorite nail polishes for Fall and Winter.

Hi Beauties!

With Fall and Winter right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to show the polishes I love and think are perfect for this time of year. I think as the seasons change so does my polish, which is fun! I tend to go for darker polishes during Fall and Winter yet I like to throw in some lighter and some even brighter polishes to just for fun, mainly the darker shades are my go to this time of year. So, instead of me rambling away I will show you 5 of the shades I am currently loving.

Julep, Caroline:
This is such a gorgeous shade. It has that darkness I like but with a pop of deep red in it. It changes in the sun vs the shade and is just a great color.

Ulta, Lavish:
Not a typical Fall shade I would think but it is a deeper purple so it is perfect for me. I love the unique shimmer to it. Makes it a unique polish that I will wear over and over.

China Glaze, I herd that: Have to have a glitter in the mix and this is perfect. The glitter reminds me of crunched up leaves and I love that you can get away with wearing this glitter alone if you want to.

Julep, Amber:
This is so unique and my first type of polish like this. It is from Novembers Julep Maven box and it is all about suede finishes. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do, but it is so fun!

OPI, Parlez-Vous OPI?:
Another great fall purple color. I think I love this because its such a creamy pretty color with no added shimmer or glitter. I love glitter but sometimes I just want a basic polish with just the color and this totally works for me. I like that its a bit darker and really can be worn any time of the year but perfect for some color during Fall/Winter.

I really could go on and on with different polishes I am switching on and of but these really sum it up. I go for darker, deeper colors. I think once It gets closer to Christmas I will be going more for jewel toned polishes as well as some fun glitters. Polish is just so fun to change up even every month. There is always a theme or something going on to where you can match your polish. I hope you love my picks and would love to hear what your gravitate towards this time of year!

Thank you for your guest post today, Miranda! Don't forget to stop by her blog!

Beauty for the Soul: Negativity

In the past couple of months, I have come to the realization that the negativity I had felt internally was attracting more negativity. What do I mean by this? If you are putting out negativity you can only attract negativity. Think about this for yourself, when was the last time you had a bad day, sat in the negative thoughts but were able to attract positivity? The answer is probably never.
So, how can you analyze where your negativity lies? Ask yourself:
  1. In my daily life where are the negative sources? If you are having trouble with the identification step, the next time you are in a situation, stop for a second and identify the thoughts and body reactions your are having. If it is negative, this is probably a problem in your life.
  2. What are my thoughts about these negative sources?
  3. What are my body reactions to these negative sources?
  4. What does this bring to my life?
  5. What can I do to change it?
Here is how I practiced these steps in my own life:

Identify: I looked around at my daily life and picked apart what was occurring. One area I identified as an issue was reality TV. I always referred to my shows as "trashy TV." I thought, if I identify it this way, then what kind of impact is it having on me?
Awareness: I began by focusing my attention to my thoughts and body reactions. While watching a show, I noticed my thoughts were, "oh she's such a ____" "I can't believe that girl!" "why is she wearing that?!" Then, when there was conflict, I noticed my body was physically reacting to it. Sometimes I felt on edge, other times I felt anxiety about what was to come. This said to me that these things were definitely having an impact on how I was seeing the world and I did not like it.
Change: I started eliminating some of the TV shows from my weekly DVR schedule. I went through and asked myself, "what does this bring to my life?" If I couldn't come up with anything I stopped recording it.
While my example is related to TV, this can be applied to anything in your life. Perhaps you have surrounded yourself with negative people. Maybe you identify Facebook as being a poor source for you. Remember, if negativity is clouding your mind you will continue to attract more negativity to yourself. You cannot wish to have a positive outlook but continue to bombard yourself with negativity. The world does not work like that. The good news is, you have the power to change it. Once you are able to identify the problem the process of change can begin. In my next Beauty for the Soul, I will discuss some options to attract more positivity to your life.
