Review & Swatchfest: Dior 5 Couleurs in Smoky Design

Dior 5 Couleurs in Smoky Design//$59//Sephora

I won this palette from Joanne of The Convenient Beauty's giveaway (see her guest post here). I have never had the pleasure of testing out a Dior product so I was excited to give this one whirl.

This is Dior's smoky palette. It includes a coal (top left), pearl grey (middle), silver (top right), white (bottom left) and a gel liner (bottom right):

While Dior is usually known for having great products, this palette was a dud for me. I love the top left (coal) and middle (pearl grey) color however, the white is translucent and the silver is straight glitter. I found the gel liner to be of poor quality. It was messy, streaky and creased within an hour.

Even though there are two colors I enjoy, they are easily duped. The other three components are not useful. At $59 I expect much better quality.

I read the reviews on Sephora and it sounds like some other reviewers had similar experiences. However, there was a lot of praise for the other color combination palettes.

Having said that, I do appreciate the compact packaging of this palette. It makes for easy travel. The palette includes its own felt bag-a nice touch. Plus, there is a plastic insert to protect the gel liner from drying out.

Have you tried Dior products? What was your experience?
