The Week I Ate My Weight in Desserts

I always look forward to the week of Valentine's Day. My mom's birthday is the next day and mine is just two days after hers (today). The best part, everyone showers me with sweets. Who can complain about that?

On to the desserts.....
Large photo: Cherry Delight. If you haven't had one, go make it right meow.
Ryan's grandma makes heavenly brownies.
A waffle is basically dessert...
I also made a Mardi Gras King Cake that looked nothing like King Cake.

Valentine's Day also resulted in mounds of goodies. I brought in Strawberry Fudge from Pinterest. My co-workers brought bags of candy. I also ate all of the chocolates from a heart box. Then, I was surprised with these:

Ryan's mom gave us more candy. I may or may not have consumed a whole box of Sour Patch Kids yesterday. At some point in the week my mom sent me homemade peanut brittle. Heavenly!

I wasn't kidding when I said I ate my weight in desserts this week.

Did I mentioned it snowed one morning? The flakes were gigantic. It melted by noon.

This cartoon basically explains it all:
On Wednesday we signed loan papers for our new home. I am officially freaking out about the fact that I am buying my first home (my husband bought our current home before we were married). That same day, we found out the buyers of our current house would be closing in one week. That meant it was time to get some hitch in our giddy up to start packing and figure out where we were going to live until closing on our new home. Did I mention we're moving to Indiana and can anyone explain to me what a Hoosier is?!

We settled on moving to Ryan's grandma's for the next couple of weeks. Lucy (the dog) isn't coping well. She's been a nutcase since arrival. Que crazy whining.

We emptied everything out today and I became quite sentimental. Ryan bought the house in December 2009 and we immediately poured out blood, sweat and tears (well, not literally) into redoing it. We moved in February 2010. We have lived there for two years. I filmed a before video a couple of years ago and an update today. I'll string them together, eventually. It was fun and (at times) crazy renovating a home. I don't think I would do it again but it felt good to really look at all of the work today. Plus, it was our first home together. There will always be lots of memories.

It also hit me today how blessed I truly am. I thought to myself why do I ever complain about anything? I have a good life. I need to keep that affirmation in mind when the bitching creeps in.
