Review & Swatches: NYX Love in Paris Palette in Parisian Chic

I mentioned NYX Love in Paris Palette in Parisian Chic as my pick for budget nude palette in the Allure Beauty Blogger Awards Challenge 1 (you can see that post here and vote daily). Now, I want to give you all a closer look:
What it claims: This 12 palette collection boasts that it is travel friendly with 9 shades include in each.
Cost: $9.99 at Ulta or nyxcosmetics.com
Packaging: The shadows come in a plastic case similar in size to an iPhone. The top has a window revealing the shadow colors. The closure is shaped like a bow. There is an applicator included.
Overall impressions: I picked up this palette after I realized NYX stopped making my love, Caviar and Bubbles. They recently launched the Love in Paris collection and their are plenty of nudes to choose from. I went with Parisian Chic because it was the only palette left at my Ulta (miss popular, apparently!).
From the get go I wasn't disappointed. The shades range from grey, to gold to black. There is a healthy mix of matte and shimmer shades. The pigmentation is fabulous and the formula is buttery smooth. Unfortunately, the light grey is a let down because it is a bit sheer.

(in direct sunlight, no primer)

(muted lighting, no primer)

In direct sunlight, the shimmer shades will catch the light. In the muted light, the colors all appear matte. The shade selection is quite versatile. You can achieve the natural look or go with a smoky evening eye. See my look with this palette here.

I experienced no fallout with this palette. The pigments last all day with a primer (I never go without primer, so I cannot comment on their staying power without one).
The packaging is compact and protects the shadows well. I agree with NYX that it's great for travel. I did not use the applicator because I love my Sigma brushes too much to cheat.
At $10 (less when Ulta has sales!) you cannot go wrong with these palettes. I plan to go back for more of this collection. I have been eyeing Love Affair With Louis for the gorgeous blues. NYX's shadows rival some high end brands out there.
